so i went on a 3 months plus summer programme in sheffield hallam university.

its like this collaboration they had with my ex college which allow final year adv students to go on a 3 month summer programme to get their post grad degree. you need to complete the local adv dip first tho.

the entire programme is built around 2 or 3 subjects. i cant remember how many. was long time ago.

so basically you will have half of the week free to do loads of travelling and sight seeing.

i think most of the students that went for this prog is nt because of the degree but for the travelling.

it costs me about RM45k in total. inclusive of flight, tuition fee, accomodation, tour within uk and a 2 week europe tour. it does not includes personal shopping. i repeat. DOES NOT include shopping.

so yea basically thats about it.

it was a great experience.

oh to make it better, we were there during the summer. not too cold and not too hot.

i'll post up some uk experience photo when i have the time k.

i have a lot of things to say but im just lazy
2010 has been a pretty good, more than just good, it was a GReat year for me
will try my best to recap what has happened k.

jan
- first time doing external acca paper (fortunately i passed all 3 of em =D )
- celebrated grandpa's 80th birthday
you know what? im just gonna put all of them together cos i cant remember all of em. im getting old =(

so,
- i did my accaS and passed them (first attempt yo!)
- grandpa's bday celebration
- southern regional convention, Ipoh
- recycling project part 2
- tarc group 12 dinner at san francisco steakhouse
- redang family vacation
- went uk to further my studies
- was on a 2 week europe tour (belgium, netherland, switzerland, luxembourg, france, germany, italy, etc etc)
- sat on the most exciting ride, oblivion. its in alton towers
- paris disneyland!!!! i have this list of things i wanna do and must do kind. disneyland is one of em. so i can happily tick one off. hehe
- realized that im actually quite an awesome cook =)
- experience snow for the first time. almost freeze my ass off. bt i survived
- volunteered in an international convention. met ppl from all around the world. its like ive traveled to 19 different countries in less than 10 days!
- helped out in a service learning program too, OSLP.
- oh tarc graduation. my 2nd graduation. gonna have another one in feb 2011.
- im no longer an acca student member. im an AFFILIATE now =)) proud moment 101
- got a job offer in kl n spore. took the one in spore. am starting soon =(
- dubai. not a nice place. dont like it. not even a tiny bit.
- another family vacation to thailand. with grandparents as well
- christmas party with my good old friends. love chu muchhhhh
- also a new year dinner with the same good old friends. love love chu muchhh
- and finally, him =)

My 2010 family vacation

stayed at Redang Beach Resort
snorkel, snorkel and more snorkeling
touched turtle for the first time
swam with sting ray, turtle and baby shark
got terrible sunburn but was worth it
buffet style lunch n dinner provided was awesome
nice and helpful beachboys
dislike how everything tasted salty. even the orange juice yikes!
i would give it a 8/10 for everything

another addictive game. see that black circle thing? yep i played the adventure game 5 times ady. FIVE. each level has like 10 mini levels. you slowly count how many times i played k.

this is the survival mode. awesome stuff eh.

so, i had dinner with AFA2 group 11 at san francisco steak house. second time there already.

to be honest, im not very fond of their food! had some teriyaki chicken with stg stg on the side and nope it wasnt good.

wasnt good at all! the reason why we chose sfsh is because of the private room and they allow us to prebook ah.

theres 25 plus plus of us and we all wanna sit together gether and eat kind.

we dun wanna sit seperate. so yea. thats y we go again.

not because of the food but because of the facility.

anyway, the food is not good. most probably cos its a STEAK hse and we're supposed have like sirloin steak or some beefy course.

i cant eat beef so too bad for me. oh my classmates celebrated my bday as well. lol.

Reflection and resolution

3 months of industrial training. Made friends. Great experience.
Played A5 sized poker card during Chinese New Year. Its bigger than my palm!
Helped in the Earth Hour Campaign. Learned that smokers throw their cigarette butts everywhere.
Went to FT meet and eventually was part of the FT family. Met loads of awesome people and made new incredible friends.
Part of the OTs in Southern Regional Convention, LEAD in Ulu Kenas, Overseas Service Learning Programme etc. Good break after the long hours in the office, school, and exams.
Vacation with family. Destination Bandung, Indonesia. There’s nothing to dislike bout it. Foods good, shoppings great, cars cute, people friendly yet a little bit scary, weather awesome!
Helped out in Asli Day Out programme. Wonderful exposure for both of us, myself and the kids.
Another holiday with family. Destination Cameron highland, Malaysia. Was a tea BOH fan for about 2 months. Earl grey and peach tea was my flavor of the year. Stop drinking due to gastric pain.
The oh not so pleasant experience with two motorists. Got robbed and shocked.
Volunteered to helped out in recycling center, KLSC Marathon, etc
Sang my heart out during the All American Rejects concert. Tyson is so cute and hmm not so man.
Had fun in Sunway Lagoon with my new found friends. Whee splash splash wheee!
Loads of movies and series, tons of shopping, plenty of birthday parties, thousands of dollars spent and heaps of fun!
Had dinner with some of my secondary school friends and 3, 2 , 1… YEAR 2010!

Ouch!

I got suspended for typing the word cigarette.

I saw this random board forum asking for 5 random things about me and I wrote:

I hate cigarette.

2 minutes later, my account got suspended. Thank god its only for a day. I almost got a heart attack when I see the suspension. I thought they froze my account (you wont get it back after they freeze it).

Argh.

My cle ber friend ask me try to type cocaine and see what happens. Cle ber in deed.

P/S: I hope they dont freeze my account because of this post. *fingers crossed*

calculator (had this since 2002, battery also never change before then lost ady sigh)
tupperware (got one slice of home-made orange sponge cake in it)

vaseline (lecture hall can be very dry at times)

I think thats about it. I bet those guys will hate me for having such lame, worthless things in my bag. My wallet and handphone were not in the bag that time. Thank god for that.

Oh ya, I got robbed today btw. Around 1.20 pm in Wangsa Maju traffic light. I was driving and then I stopped for red light and out of nowhere, 2 malay guys, one wearing a flower-y shirt open my passenger seat door and grab my bagpack. Wanted to scream and shout but it was too late. They went against the red light and off they go. So, bye bye bagpack.

But I'm thankful I was not hurt though. Physically =)

The 'amazing' part is all that happened in less than 5 seconds. Those people are SKILLED! No doubt. They probably had done it over a million times.

So, lesson number one, make sure that you lock your doors once you enter your car.
Second, stay alert. Look at your surrounding. If any suspicious motorist trying to get near your car, honk as hard as you can. That ought to scare them away.
And thirdly, becareful!

Bandung Trip part 2

I supposed to continue my 'Bandung Trip part 2' a few months ago, but I was too lazy.

Anyways, here's part 2.

On our way back. I managed to take a look at how they had their wedding in Bandung. Very simple one actually.

Kampung Daun restaurant. We went too early and the place is not ready yet. The place was great. Very green. And this is how they dine in Kampung Daun.

On the way to Toko Tiga, there's a row of factory outlet store with giant cartoon character. I forgotten what is that street called.

See that orange traffice light? My tour guide said it has been orange for the past 20 years. It was already like this when he was in high school. Traffic lights in Bandung serves no or very little purpose. Serious. Green go orange go red also go.

This is my skilled bus driver. He tekan minyak and brake like nobody's business.

Famous for jeans. Whatver brand you want, they have it there. The prices there are reasonable.

They're selling snacks and cigarettes along the high way. Its very common for them to do that.

If you have nothing to sell, you can sing a song or two and you'll be rewarded. That is also very common in Bandung.

Night at the Museum 2

I went to watch this movie yesterday and in my opinion, it is actually quite good.

The movie was hilarious. Mischievous talking monkeys, short-tongue speaking Kah-Mun-Rah king, adorable singing cupid and super slimy sticky octopus.

Basically everything in the museum came to life after the sun set. Even the Einstein Bobble-Head. They're so cute I tell you.

Oh and I love how Ben Stiller plays with his torch light. Very skillful I tell you. Cool 'trick'.

Anyway, the movie was good. Highly recomemded :)

I volunteered for the ‘Asli Day Out’ programme organized by La Salle Center. It was a 3 days 2 nights programme for 30 indigenous (orang asli) kids. The main idea is to bring them to Kuala Lumpur (KL) for a day trip to let them experience the city life that they never experienced before. Basically we went to 3 places, Pusat Sains Negara, Muzium Negara and Petrosains. It was fun and educational. Even for me

We stayed in Kampung Chang Baru located in Bidur, Perak. It is about one and half hour ride from Kuala Lumpur. It is a small community with less than 20 families. They speak their own language, Bahasa Semai. It amazes me that they study in their own language. Like their textbooks and stuff. Oh, here’s a few word I learned. Mah igah means how are you and gah bor is I’m great.

Besides that, I've learn to be thankful of what we have. And not whine about stuff that we don't have. I used to whine alot (still whining, but lesser d) but I've never realise how lucky I am compared to others. Thats the hmm money-cant-be-bought-lesson that I learned la.

Bandung trip part 1

Where do I begin? Hmm. Let me introduce you to Bandung first.

According to Wikipedia, Bandung a.k.a Kota Bandung is the capital of West Java province in Indonesia and the 3rd or 4th largest city in the country. Located 768m (2,520 ft) above sea level, Bandung has relatively year-around cooler temperature than most other Indonesian cities.
With over 2.9 million population, it's one of the most densely populated city in Asia.

Now, according to me, I mean, from what I've seen, heard, touched and even smell, Bandung is a large city. 3rd or 4th largest? I honestly don't know. Located 2,520 ft above sea level? Hmm the highest place I've been is 1,830 ft above sea level. I have proof! Cool temperature? Yep. Very cool indeed. Eat super hot spicy food also won't sweat. Cool enough? 2.9 million population? I think more than that. I've only been to a few places and its all packed with people. A lot a lot of people.

Oh and, how long does it take to travel from Malaysia to Bandung? About 2 hours flight. Here's a map.

Okay enough for the introduction. So I went Bandung with my family (mother and sister only, father doesn't wanna sit the powered flying vehicle) and my mother's friends. All together there were 14 of us. We were there for 3 days 2 nights (not enough, seriously). All of us went there with one similar objective which is to SHOP.

Bandung is famous for their factory outlet store. Something like FOS in Malaysia but there they have much more variety of brands and goods. Famous brands includes, Marks and Spencer, GUESS, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, Emporio Armani, Jimmy Choo, Dolce&Gabbana, Marc Jacobs and many more. Sad enough for me, I am not interested in all there designers goods. But I do like Marks and Spencer's pants. Its very very comfortable!!

I think thats the basic thing you need to know about Bandung. Next, its picture time!!

Ooo. King of fruits ice-cream. Yummy. No? Yucky? I love it. It costs 8,000 rupee (appox RM3)

All of us (14 grown up adults) squeezed in a mini van or what they called it 'ang-kut-tan'. Very famous public transportation mean by the locals. Buses are not so popular.

Dinner at Simpang Raya. Buffet kind of style. Was ok. But dislike the skinny chicken. I will never survive in Bandung because I enjoy eating fat, meaty juicy chickens. Sorry chicken.

I was checking my email and I came across this interesting mail, explaining why people wear their wedding rings on the forth finger. I googled forth finger and this is what I get.

The ring finger is the fourth digit of the human hand, and the second most ulnar finger, located between the middle finger and the . It is also called digitus medicinalis, the third finger, digitus annularis, digitus quartus, or digitus IV in anatomy.

Anyway, this is the chinese version of why people wear their wedding ring on the forth finger:

First of all, try to memorize (remember ) this.

The thumb represents your Parents.
The second (index) finger represents your Siblings.
The middle finger represents you.
The fourth (ring) finger represents your Life Partner.
The last (little) finger represents your children.

Then do this. Just be good and follow okay? Its worth it.

Open your palms (face to face),bend the middle fingers and hold them together,back to back.
Next, open and hold the remaining three fingersand the thumb - tip to tip.

I expect my first week of work involves around the office like erm doing photostating, making coffee for seniors, and getting use to the company kind of activities. But as a contradict, I was sent to an outstation company to do some auditing work. 5 days a week. 11 hours of work (ok well half an hour lunch break). Did I mention that I have no experience or what-so-ever? Ya, I know, I'm a noob.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. Its just that I did not see this coming for the first week of my work.

Well, I'm tired. Mentally and physically. No, wait I'm EXHAUSTED.

'Exhausted but not this exhausted. And drooling on your laptop is not a smart thing to do'

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this weekend where I can rest my body and brain.

Genting Highland has this china man drawing self portrait pictures. He is a very professional artist, no doubt bout it. The reason I say so is because he drew a girl and it looked EXACTLY like her. 99% similiar. And the portrait is laminated. The portrait comes with 3 sizes and they are all different prices. Small RM50 Medium RM60 and Large RM80.

I thought it would be quite reasonable and I decided to be drawn by that china man. Being myself (the stingy me), I chose to have the RM50 drawing. But unexpectedly, I paid RM80 for the whole portrait. I'll tell you why.

It took 10 minutes to draw my face and for the first time I have facial cramp. I constantly doing my trade mark smile (showing my front row of teeth when I'm smiling, like doing a toothpaste ad).

While the artist drawing me, there are some cekik senang people who actually stood there for 10 minutes to watch the drawing process. So I kinda wasted their 10 minutes on me :)

So after the drawing process, the man showed me my portrait. Sigh, I don't look anything (maybe abit) like that except the hair and forehead. My eyes are smaller in reality but the portrait's eyes are like fish ball eyes. And and I look like a china cartoon character.

Anyway, the RM80 part. I didn't realized that the drawing doesn't include the plastic cover (lamination) that prevent the ink from smearing. And the stupid plastic cover cost me RM30. If I choose not to put the plastic, the ink will definitely smear and whats the point drawing it in the first place. ARGHHHH.

So, thats the whole I've been conned story. But I guess its part of my fault also, for not asking the price properly. Sigh

Bangsa Malaysia Series

Last weekend, I went to this workshop on non-discrimination. It was a follow up event after my participant in the training of trainers on non-discrimination education organized by KOMAS (Pusat Komunikasi Masyarakat). I know I'm confusing you guys.

But anyway, the workshop I went last weekend was held in Hindu Youth Training Centre, Klang. Ya I know, they have nice bak kut teh there but thats not the point. So basically, we (with the other 3 facilitator) were there to introduce and understand human rights and its basic principles (UDHR - Universal Declaration of Human Rights). In UDHR, it contains about 30 articles laying out the basic rights of a human being. Heres the link to the articles : http://www.un.org/Overview/rights.html

Besides that, we were also there to help them to understand bout race discrimination and to raise awareness on its effects amongst the general public. And not forgetting to eliminate racial discrimination and install unity. I sounds easy eh? But trust me its NOT.

I've been sick for the past 2 weeks...started with flu, lots of sneezing and tissue wastage..then sore throat..green green and yellow yellow phlegm..then now dizzy plus vomiting..I should have went to see a doctor when i had that flu but i bo kam buam wanna see doctor because flu very small thing only dun wan waste money..but who knows now the small flu infect get my throat and ear..sigh

yea i really feel like posting stg here..i know usually ppl post their first entry when they first sign up for a blog or stg but neh who cares..

so hmm...i went to mcd for lunch today and i had fillet o fish (ala carte), bubur ayam mcd (small)...and some free fries (small) which i redeem with my ronald mcdonald kids club card..the fries was awesome because its straight from the fryer machine? and also because its free..

before i had my lunch, i went to renew my Jcard membership which cause me RM12 but i do receive a complimentary express facial worth RM48 voucher..so i guess the RM12 i spent was kinda worth it?

and after that i went back and took a 45 mins nap to recharge my energy oh btw i woke up at 8 this morning

and after after that i had my dinner, "wa tan hor" while watching friends (again)..

and now im trying to post a post on my blog ;)
